SECOND FISHING SEASON 2019 STARTS WITH A QUOTA OF 2.79 MILLION METRIC TONS

Lima, November 13, 2019.- By Ministerial Resolution No. 483-2019-PRODUCE, it was approved the beginning of the second fishing season 2019 of anchovy in the north-central zone of Peru, starting on November 16^th, 2019.

The fishing quota established for the season is 2’786,000 metric tons, which is in line with the recommendations of IMARPE that in its report “Situation of the north-center stock of Peruvian anchovy (Engraulis Ringens) to November 5th of 2019″, observed a biomass equivalent to 8.34 million MT. This season will finish once the Total Maximum Limit of Permissible Catch of the North-Central Zone (LMTCP North-Center) is reached, or in its absence, when IMARPE recommends it for environmental or biological circumstances.

Likewise, an exploratory fishing was authorized on November 5^th, starting on November 6^th, with the purpose of updating the information on the distribution, size structures and incidence of other species, for a period of 10 calendar days. This volume has been considered as part of the Maximum Total Allowable Catch Limit for the second fishing season 2019.
