FIRST FISHING SEASON 2021 STARTS WITH A QUOTA OF 2’509,000 METRIC TONS

Lima, April 23, 2021.- By Ministerial Resolution No. 00120-2021-PRODUCE, it was approved the beginning of the first fishing season 2021 of anchovy in the north-central zone of Peru.

The fishing quota established for the season is 2’509,000 metric tons, which is in line with the recommendations of IMARPE that in its report “Situation of the north-center stock of Peruvian anchovy (Engraulis Ringens) to April, 2021″, observed a biomass equivalent to 9’881,000 metric tons, which confirms the appropriate management of the resource and the commitment to sustainability.

An exploratory fishing has been authorized, beginning on April 23 for 10 days, in order to update information on the main fishing biological aspects of the north-central stock of anchovy. The first fishing season of 2021 will begin as soon as the exploratory fishing ends, according to its results.

This season will finish once the Total Maximum Limit of Permissible Catch of the North-Central Zone (LMTCP North-Center) is reached, or in its absence, when IMARPE recommends it for environmental or biological circumstances.
